Almost, one of best goals in history

Here are five great missed chances in this clips, any of them would have been one of best goals in history.

The chances are:
1. Brazil vs. Scotland 1974 WC, game ended 0-0 with so many chances.
2. Marco Van Basten vs. Germany Euro 1992, game ended 3-1 for Netherlands
3. Maradona vs. England in a 1980 friendly in Wembly, England won 3-1. Maradona always jokes about this chane, he says after six years in Mexico, when he did exactly the same, he decided that he will round the keeper too.
4. Pele vs. Uruguay 1970 WC, but this is not the very famous play of rounding the keeper. It is something I like more. Brazil won 3-1.
5. Marcelo Balboa USA vs. Colombia 1994 WC, USA won 2-1.

Robinho interesting goal

I would not call it "great", but it is really interesting, the way he controls the ball,

or may be it is me, that i am always enjoying watching anything for this player :)

Arsenal Aston VIlla goals 4-2

This looks like a wonderful game, with wonderful thrilling goals,
enjoy the video

Silly or smart red cards for Real Madrid in last 3 minutes????!!!!

Especially that Real Madrid was winning 4-0
there were no point of wasting time, but listen again to the analysis
very interesting

CL play of the week: Lionel Messi makes everyone laughes

It was wonderful two days of CL games with great days for Spurs, Roma, Real Madrid and Barcelona in specific. Yesterday Barca dominated Panathinaikos, take a look at these statistics:

Goal scores: 3-0 for Barca
Attempts on Target: 12-1 for Barca
Possessions: 74% - 26% for Barca

However, the highlight of the game was one of the amazing dribbles by Lionel Messi

lol listen at the commentator at the replay laughing
this reminds me of last year when Messi made the Jazeera Sport Channel team fall into big laughs, as they could not describe his skills

and here is something really nice if you missed it, as I have not seen Argentina 4-1 friendly vs. Spain, I saw recently this wonderful dribble and penetration of Messi vs. Spain

Eto brings memories of Zizou headbutt : )

Eto did a replica of Zizou headbutt when he did it for a Chievo player. He got a way with it during the game without even a yellow card, but he might get a suspension with three games now.

What's more interesting that this is apparently not the first time that Eto practice headbutting. Couple of years ago he headbutted a journalist before sending a public apology to him.

Apart from the headbutt, Chievo scored a wonderful first goal from a superior header.
Watch it together with all goals in this link.

C. Ronaldo paradinha penalty been punished

Before the last world cup, FIFA changed the rule of the penalty kicks, that the player cannot any more stop just before playing the penalty. A move called in Brazil as "Paradinha"

It is said that the one who invented that one was Pele, and he used to do it a lot. In my opinion, it is part of the football tricks and moves, and it should be allowed. This is the Paradinha,

And this is the Ronaldo contraversial "Paradinha" penalty

Ronaldo hatrick vs. Atletico Bilbao (5-1)

Messi scored a hatrick vs. Almeria in an 8-0 victory. Honestly, all goals were kinda loose because Almeria defence was almost like a biscuit.

Ronaldo hatrick worth watching

Mr. bicycle kicks: KLAUS FISCHER

Mention bicycle kicks and you will hear the usual names: Hugo Sanchez, then, Marco Van Basten, Gianluca Vialli, Karl Heinz Rummenigge, Pele, then there are many regional players who master this especiality.

However, one of best ever players in bicycle kicks in the history of the game, is not very well known with that outside his country, Germany.

This photo talks about one of the most important moment in the 1982 World Cup, and the history of the game in general. It was the equalizer for Germany in 82 semi-final, when Germany came back from 1-3 to 3-3 before winning the penalties. It was called the "Battle of Seville".

The goal was wonderful to watch as a team work, though it was not the best bicycle kick that impress you. However, for sure it was the most important goal ever for Klaus.

Klaus starred in the 1970s and 1980s, he retired at 1988 after playing for Shalke, Koln and Bochum. He played for the national team from 1977 to 1982 scoring 32 international goals in just 45 games. He took important role in Germany 1978, 80 and 82 golden teams.

I watched few documentaries about German football in the 1970s, and every time, I come accross one of his wonderful bicycle kicks. Here are some:

This one is at age of 41 after his retirement

And what's crazy is this one, can you imagine at age of 60, what he can still do?

Cristiano Ronaldo joins the back pass club

C.Ronaldo had a great peice of skill against Atletico Madrid last game

looool but the Atlitico Madrid defender didn't like it at all, he thinks is is a childish play or demeaning to him lol WATCH THIS CLIP SAME PLAY DIFFERENT ANGLE

Any how Ibra, the other complex player did this trick earlier with Barca

But no one really compete with the most complex and skillful of all Ronaldinho when he was with Barca, and I think he was the one who invented it, and it is the most difficult of all of them

actually, i remember once Ronaldinho controlled the ball with his back while running, and it jumped to his foot, and continued running, I could not find it in YouTube, but I remember the commentator (Yousif Saif) was screaming "I swear to God, it was by intention, I swear to God, it was by intention"

Silly keeper mistake after a great double save : )

The Qatar player is #1 in YouTube now

I think by now, everyone must have seen the amazing (silly) miss of the Qatari player on the Asian games.
The poor guy made it to the world fame, as today it was the most watched clip on the YouTube

He got three million viewer till the moment in the number one video and another half million in the #4 video, and that is in just little more than 24 hours.

Friendlies review (2 of 2): Spain is the biggest loser

Portugal x Spain (4-0):
Portugal took revenge from Spain by a humilating 4-0 victory to the WC winner. Well, it is always usual that the WC winner has some low performance. But, to lose 1-4 to Argentina then 0-4 to Portugal, for sure will put some pressure on the coach and the team as a whole.

It worth mentioning, that Spain won all of its three games in the Euro 2012 qualifications.
Spain was lucky again as the ref disallowed a correct wonderful goal for Ronaldo.

This link has all the goals of the game.

Egypt x Australia (3-0):
Again this was a very important political and psychological win for Egypt. Egypt is ranked #10 in the world and I think they deserve it and they won the last three African Nations Cups. Yet, they failed to qualify to the WC since 1990.

The story is always the same, they just lose some easy points before getting together when things are too difficult. Now, they just did exactly the same in the 2012 CAF qualifications. This time Egypt tied with the weak Sierra Leone before losing to Niger 0-1. Now they are the last of a group of four.

Everyone in Egypt was talking that it is time to change the coach, and the whole team. We need fresh blood.
So, this victory is a big push back. Not only that, but the goal of the game came from Gedo, the top scorer in last CAF. He had internal problems in Egypt with a hefty fine of a half million pound (around 100 thousand dollars).

Morocco x N. Ireland (1-1)
Morocco been out of WC since 1998 and now out of last CAF. Morocco used to be one of best African teams, and in recent years they lost that spark. What's interesting that Moroccon players are doing very well in European clubs. Now, this is the first game with the Belgian coach Eric Gerets who just had big success with a Saudi club. Hopes started to return again with this coach. So, a tie with Ireland is just a very good start for a new journey. Watch the goals of the game

France x England (2-1):
I am sure, I don't need to express my opinion on why it is a very good victory for France to get back into the world top ranking again. I have not seen the game as I was watching Argentina Brazil one. But, looking into the goals, I can say that both goals give a hint, that there is some good team work behind the blues.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLsfdT3FRSw

Now, I had a casual shirt that represents the french national team. I used to wear it, actually I always weared something about France when Zizou used to play. Now, especially after the last WC, I was thinking to throw this shirt, I never felt like wearing it. Not only for the bad performance, but more for the attitude behind it.

Now, I might wait a little bit, and see ....... will I wear it again???!!!

Friendlies review (1 of 2): Messi is the biggest winner

Some of the today's friendlies carried a lot of the psychological and political importance. Here is a review of some

Argentina x Brazil:
Not very exciting game, Brazil was better as a team. Argentina looked paled and fragmented. Still no team work. However, plitically, it was very important win for the 'temporary' coach Batista. This means he might continue for a longer time with Argentina.

Also, Messi scored a goal to remember, with a great 'One-two' run from midfield around four defenders. He also had a great chance in the first half.

again, this goal will remind people of Maradona great run in 1990 vs. Brazil . Of course Maradona run was more important and difficult. But, from aesthetic point of view, there are some similarities.

Also, I think this goal - together with many recent beautiful goals - for Messi, will give him a lot of credit and enhance his chances to win the Golden Ball award for this year.

In my opinion, he will win it with tight difference with Xavi, Iniesta and Schnieder. Despite only having one league title, and failing in the WC, he still got big chances to win it, just like Marco Van Basten in 1992. He won Italian league, but failed in Euro 92, he still won it with some memorable goals.

Huntelaar creative bicycle kicks

He is from Netherlands and got both decent club and national career. He plays now for Shalke. What's interesting about him is his ability to score from acrobatic or bicycle kicks ways.

Why I put a post is not only for that, but actually, for the creativity in these bicycle kicks. He scores from different angles and conditions,

Coming soon: the king of bicycle kicks in Germany(can you guess who?)

Interesting goals by the Argentinian Tino Costa

He is about 25 years old playing for Valencia. In case you have not seen his beautiful goal vs. Getafe last Sunday 14 Nov

another nice goal for him

Italian beautiful old clip

I have uploaded this from my old library, I love this part.
This is from the semi-final 1982 WC, about 10 minutes before the end of the second half. It was already 2-0 for Italy, so ...... enjoy :)

Worst and funniest clip

I started to worry that bloggers are posting too many stupid funny clips from Arab teams. First, there were those two clips from the Marrocon keeper. Now, this one from Asian games. Not only the Uzbik keeper did something very stupid, but the Qatari player did something 10 times worse.

Watch the clock, it was the 90th minute. Uzbik qualified in extra time.

Thanks to soccerblog.com

And Roberto Baggio favorite player

After posting Zizou favourite player, here is Roby favourite one as he always stated in his interviews. It was the Brazilian star Zico.

Zico was more than a midfield. He often scored goals. He was very good in dribbling, free kicks, wonderful passes, and he both feet skills and mental skills in dealing with the ball.

Something that Baggio did exactly the same, and might be ever better, like a decade later.

Documentaries and YouTube famous of WC famous clips for Zico, but here are some rare interesting ones

Scissor kick in J-League (he was 40 years old)
But this is when he was 29 years old only

Iliked this one a lot,

And he did more fun in the same game
This has very nice five minutes compilation of skills
But this is best video I think I seen for him, bit long but nice

Francescoli, Zidane and his son

Zidane always state in his interviews that his favourite player when he was young was Enzo Francescoli, the former Uruguaian player. I always wondered why? That time, yes Enzo was so talented, but Maradona, Platini, Basten, Zico got most of the attention.

Anyhow, Francescoli had some of great moments like this one

and Here are some more goals for Enzo. However, Enzo was very creative in the midfield and he had great imagination and unpredictable passes, and I think this made Zidane liked him. This video shows Enzo skills in the final of 1986 Libertadoros cup.

What's more interesting, that Zidane named his son as Enzo after his favourite player Enzo Francescoli.
Now the little Enzo is 15 years old and in the verge of playing for France or Spain under 16 team. Watch this video for clips of Zidane Son. You can see from the clips that he likes to imitate his father.

Maradona at 21 years old

while posting youtube videos in my last post, I bounced into some old videos for the crazy guy. Some I never seen before, so I am posting these two goals, that he scored in an interesting way in the same day with Boca

And some bonus material:
Who said Maradona is short?
Clever goal
and this is very very nice to watch, many of these scenses I see them for the first time
Maradona in Argentinos Juniors

Argentinian football giant leap in the 1970s

I know the fact but I don't know the answer really. What has happened in Argentina in the 1970s? I think that was the most critical time for football in that country. Till 1978, Argentina was not very well advanced in the game.

Yes, they won few Copa Americas, but the last one was 1959. Yes, they reached 1930 WC final. But, they had very bad appearance in 1966. In 1970, they didn't even qualify. In 1974, Argentina played six games, and managed only to beat Haiti. They tied with lousy Italy and fair East Germany. They lost to Brazil, Poland and a humilating 0-4 defeat vs. Netherlands.

You cannot recall any good goal for Argentina prior to 1978 WC. After that, you can pick and choose.
They had better presence with their clubs. However, in mid 1970s, stars started to appear. Beautiful goals started to be scored, and Argentina never looked back.

I never read a convincing article on what made this great leap for Argentina. It was not only the World Cup. Signs were clear from local competitions. I will post few goals from those years:

This is Leopoldo Luque very nice skillful goal in 1979
He is the player who scored the famous winner for Argentina vs. France in 1978 World Cup.

This player was not in the national team, but the goal shows the quality of football that Argentina got in late 70s.

And of course, there was nothing more important than, the arrival of Maradona

Finally, found Negrete amazing goal

This is what I like most about youtube, you got almost everything in history in football between your hands. I was able to find rare moments that I saw only once in my life when I was 8 or 10 years old. It is like re-seeing a dream again.

One of the those rare things is Manuel Negrete goal that I read about it. If you witnessed 1986 WC or seen any documentary about it, you must seen this amazing acrobatic goal by Negrete when Mexico won 2-0 over Bulgaria in the second round

This goal was one of the marks of that mondial, may be directly after Maradona both goals vs. England few days later. Well, what I have read is article about that goal in "Al-Watan Al-Riyadi" magazine, which was at that time one of best in Arab world.

The article tells the story of the acrobatic skills of this player, and that he scored an amazing goal, even better than the mondial one. And that he scored few other acrobatic famous goals. So, I read it, and at that time, without a youtube, I would start imagining this goal in my head.

Now, after over 20 years, I was able to recall the goal, and watch it in youtube

Other Negrete skillful goals from Mexican league
Another video where Negrete talks about his two famous goals

Messi delightful one-two goal

I don't know what to say

Carlos Reinoso - an artist from Chile

Carlos Enzo Reinoso Valdenegro (born in 1946) is now a a Chilean football coach. He played in the 1970s and 1980s, most notably as a member of the Mexican team, America.

He scored some wonderful goals, here are some to enjoy

Old contraversial goal from Argentina

Old foottage from 1983,
cannot believe that the ref allowed it

The ball boy

the ball boy shows the opponent who's the man!!!
and the opponent cannot say a word lol

and this one the ball boy gets more active with his team and he scores a goal, that was allowed by the ref :)

Freestyle at its best

Back to you with this interesting video
I am not big fan of freestyle football, but this one worth watching

Gareth Bale and highway to fame

Just one month ago, Gareth Bale was a very good Tottenham Hotspur player. Today, he is the talk of the football. He scored a hatrick against Inter Milan to change the 0-4 humilating defeat into 3-4 acceptable result.

In the second leg, he did magic and making two assists in the 3-1 victory over Inter. Just watch the 21 years old boy, amazing performance

I also realized he is the player who scored this wonderful volley few months ago

An amazing goal to watch

This is an old goal from 1996 Asian Cup. What's amazing not only the goal, but that it was from Indonesia, an Asian country that hardly pass the group stages at Asian cups. The goal scored vs. Kuwait.

Remembering John Barnes

John was one of best players ever played for Liverpool, and he explains a lot why people who lived in the 1980s loved the red club a lot. He never made big impact with the national team.

He was mostly remembered for this famous goal vs. Brazil in 1983 in a friendly in Maracana when England won 2-0. I didn't like the goal a lot as I think Brazil had lousy defence.

But, he had great wonderful moments and influence with Liverpool. I found this youtube that shows the real quality of Barnes, especiall his passes, and the way he combines great skills with great thinking. It was a joy to watch him playing.
