Remembering John Barnes

John was one of best players ever played for Liverpool, and he explains a lot why people who lived in the 1980s loved the red club a lot. He never made big impact with the national team.

He was mostly remembered for this famous goal vs. Brazil in 1983 in a friendly in Maracana when England won 2-0. I didn't like the goal a lot as I think Brazil had lousy defence.

But, he had great wonderful moments and influence with Liverpool. I found this youtube that shows the real quality of Barnes, especiall his passes, and the way he combines great skills with great thinking. It was a joy to watch him playing.

  2. thanks yorke for the nice info
yes, he did the great pass to lineker in 86

and my favorite goal for him is against uruguay prior to 1990 WC. unfortunately i searched youtube a lot but could not find it

john was at the end fo the penalty box
he received a long while jumping on his chest
he did a great job in controlling it and while landing he kicked it with a nice clever chip in a difficult corner of the goal
