New star: Michel Bastos (Brazil)

Dunga is introducing a wonderful left back phenomena, Michel Bastos.

Bastos plays in Lyon as winger, but with Dunga he plays a left back. He is 26 years old, he is very skillful, energetic and tactical. And there is something with the left backs of Brazilian national team, they got the culture of free-kicks.

This was last Bastos goals few days ago in a friendly vs. Zimbabwe

He got an amazing left foot shots, watch this

This is a video with some of his wonderful goals
Another wonderful acrobatic goal
Another two nice precise goals in one game
Another amazing free kick   and   Amazing missed free kick

Brazilian left backs and free kicks:
Something unique about Brazil. Since early 1980s, and almost every left back got great skills in free kicks. Here is some little record:

- Junior (82, 86 WCs): He was right footted. 1980/81 Brazil played Germany three times and won all games. Junior scored goal in each game against the legendry keeper Schumacher. Two of them were from free kicks. This is one of them (Second 38). Watch this free kick at the end of his career at age 38.

- Branco (86, 90, 94 WCs): I think he was a better left back than Roberto Carlos. More reliable and his free kicks were comparable too. You must remember the goal that took Brazil to the semi-final in 1994. But, also, he had great moments with Genoa. Watch this amazing free kick in the derby. Or this amazing one vs. Liverpool.

Yet, my favourite goal for Branco, is one I still remember from Copa America in 1991 vs. Argentina (second 25)

- Roberto Carlos: (1998, 2002, 2006 WCs)
I think I don't need to put any comments, just a little video of his best moments.
