A goal and a story - OM 1991

One of best ever quarter finals in the European Cups was in 1991 between two geat teams at that time:
AC Milano vs. Olympic Marseille.

AC Milano was at his ever best, the champion for 1989 and 1990 European Cups. Had the great dutch Marco Van Basten, Rud Gulliet and Frank Raijark. Franco Baresi, Paolo Maldini and Roberto Danadoni were just among the rest.

Olympic Marseille had the great trio: Apedi Pele (shirt #10), Chris Waddle (shirt#8) and Jean Pier Papin (shirt#9).

The first leg in San Siro ended 1-1. The goal came with the traingle: Pele, Waddle then Papin to score.


The second leg in the French home, Marseille beat Milano 1-0 after an outstanding performance from Waddle. He scored, and again, the goal came from the same triangle with a bit of a different order:

The French club reached the final, to lose by PKs to Red Star Bulgrad after 0-0 tie in the game.
